Microsoft has already announced that no more software updates, security patches or technical support will be provided for the Windows 10 operating system after October 14. Not only that, the company has also advised users to update to Windows 11 quickly. As a result, as the end of support for Windows 10 approaches, users are increasingly worried. However, in a new announcement, Microsoft has said that Microsoft's official support for Windows 10 is ending on October 14. Aftar that, general security updates will no longer be available. However, for those who want to use Windows 10 for a few more days, the Extended Security Updates (ESU) facility is being launched. Tha update will be available until October 13, 2026. Users can take advantage of the ESU facility for a fee or for free under certain conditions.
Aaccording to Microsoft, the ESU facility will be available in three ways in the Windows 10 operating system. The only free method is to enable the Windows Backup feature and save the device's settings and folders to the cloud. However, for this backup, you will have to use Microsoft's cloud service OneDrive. OneDrive offers up to 5 GB of data storage for free. So if the amount of data is large, you may have to buy additional space.
ESU banefits can also be obtained by paying $ 30 per year or through Microsoft Rewards points. In this case, users must have at least 1,000 points in their account. A new ESU enrollmant wizard will be added to Windows 10 next month. Through this, users will be able to choose any of the three methods. By following the instructions on the screen, the computer will automatically be added to ESU.
